Altoid tin advent calendar

This was made from the small altoid tins, which are about half the size of a regular altoid tin. `I applied those sticky magnetic sheets to the back of each so they can be removed from the metal cookie sheet base. The tins were decorated with scrapbook paper, book pages, ink, glitter, beads, buttons, and other doodads.
In progress. See those tiny naked tins?

  1. I think this is phenomenal! What type of glue did you use when decorating the tins?

  2. Thanks, rose. I used Aleene's Tacky glue. and Mod Podge on top. It's a little trickier than covering the larger tins because the smalls have rounder edges. The glue actually helps soften the paper so you can manipulate it around the edges. Also someone on craftster recommended a thin layer of poly clay on the lid so you have a flatter surface. I haven't tried it, but I might next time. You could have sharper edges and cover them more easily.

  4. I LOVE THIS!!! I've been collecting these tins for awhile now, and trying to figure out what to do with them! I need a few more to make a set. I LOVE the ones you've shown here - excellent choices of images and "doodads"!
